All purebred dogs suffer from genetic predisposed conditions. As Breeders, it is our responsibility to ensure that we only breed with healthy dogs and through testing, eliminate possible problems that could be transferred to the Puppies or future generations.
It is not possible to guarantee the health of any dog or puppy and for some conditions there are no health tests available - the caveat is in responsible breeding and regular follow up with puppy owners to be aware of any problems that might occur. Through careful monitoring of the puppies as they grow up, potential issues can be identified - and responsible decisions made to either stop breeding with that particular male/female or breeding line, or to steer away from a specific breeding combination.
